Mahoganie is an active and ardent member of the Palliative Care community. She currently volunteers her time to act as the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario’s Policy and Political Action ENO for both the Niagara Chapter and Palliative Care Nurse’s Interest Group for the past 3+ years. She has also sits on the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Nursing Group as Secretary/Treasurer. She currently works as a Registered Nurse at McNally House Hospice in a casual capacity, as well as, working full time as a Palliative Pain and Symptom Management Consultant (PPSMC) throughout the Niagara Region. Additionally, Mahoganie writes a blog called “The Art of Dying” and is a roller derby referee.
In this episode we talk about roller derby, finding direction in life, working in the palliative care field, the death of her first patient, uncle, and family dog, and grief dreams.

Dr. Beth Allen (AKA Bif Naked) is a prominent alternative artist, performer and songwriter. Throughout her remarkable career, Beth embarked on seemingly endless international tours, several feature films and multiple television roles, only to be struck down with breast cancer at the age of 37. She would discover her passion for advocacy, as a triumphant survivor and someone who helps others first. She wrote her biography in 2016 called “I, Bificus”.
In this episode we talk about her music career, breast cancer journey, palliative care volunteering, and death of her father, friend, and dogs.

Rami Shami has been serving within Hospice Palliative Care for close to thirty years. He is currently involved in an innovative and exciting project with Journey Home Hospice, that will increase accessibility of Hospice Palliative Care services to individuals who are homeless (or vulnerably housed) and living with a life limiting illness. In this episode we talk about Hospice Palliative Care, Journey Home Hospice, dreams of the deceased, and a dream he wants to have.

Bonnie Tompkins holds a Bachelor of Public Health with a specializing in Palliative Care. She currently works with Pallium Canada as the Compassionate Communities National Lead, which has her focusing on mobilizing compassionate communities across Canada. She has also lead two compassionate community (CC) initiative in Burlington and Niagara West Ontario. We talked about her work with compassionate communities, her journey with her dying husband, her grief journey, dreams of him, and a dream she wants to have of him.
